Quantico Commissary Hours - Welcome to Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Crossroads of the Marine Corps. MCB Quantico serves as a focal point for Marine professional military education and training. MCB Quantico develops the leadership and professional strategies, operations and tactics necessary to meet the challenges our nation will face.

MCB Quantico employs approximately 26,000 military, civilian, and contractor personnel. The base is the Marine Corps Information Operations Center, Marine Corps Systems Command, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Marine Corps Training and Education Command, Marine Corps University, Basic School, Officer Candidate School, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Marine Helicopters. . Squadron One, and other tenant units.

Here's Where Commissary Customers May Find A Silver Lining In The Pandemic

MCB Quantico is 35 miles south of Washington, D.C., in the Commonwealth of Virginia Prince William County. To the south of the base are Fredericksburg and Richmond, to the east is the Chesapeake Bay, and to the west is the Appalachians. The closest airports are Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, and Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Virginia. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is approximately 33 miles from the base. Washington Dulles International Airport is approximately 40 miles from the base.

If you arrive at MCB Quantico during normal business hours, report to the Facility Personnel Management Center on the second deck of Building 2006 on Hawkins Avenue. You can reach IPAC at 1 (703) 784-4479. IPAC will provide assistance with initial administrative check-in matters, including personal record updates, original booking support, travel claims, daily log issues, and information on welcome at briefings.

Once the Marines have completed their IPAC check-in process, they will be rotated to their assigned battalion or squadron headquarters to be issued their check-in sheets and more check-in activities.

The Visitor Control issues temporary vehicle permits and can provide directions and information about the base. For more information on basic access, please visit the MCB Quantico website.

Mcftb Ready, Set, Prepare

There are many hotels near MCB Quantico, so you are sure to find something that suits your budget. For a complete list of military lodges and affiliate resorts in the area, visit the Department of Defense website and the Corps Inns website.

While many members of military families call base housing home, others choose to live in nearby communities. The neighboring communities of Dumfries, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Triangle, and Woodbridge provide housing, employment, and other services to MCB Quantico military families. MCB Quantico is at a high cost of living, so rental housing and real estate are expensive.

The town of Dumfries is just a few minutes north of MCB Quantico and only 10 miles from Fort Belvoir. It is home to about 5,900 people. With easy access to Route 1 and Interstate 95, Dumfries is a short drive from area attractions in the nearby Triangle, including the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Prince William Forest Park. The city is also home to a museum and historic park.

The city of Fredericksburg is south of MCB Quantico and Stafford County. The city borders the Rappahannock River, providing a variety of water recreation opportunities. Home to approximately 29,000 people, Fredericksburg is known for its rich history, with museums, trails, churches, homes and battlefields that tell the story of the colonial era, the Civil War, and more. Other area attractions include art galleries, theaters, golf courses, shopping areas, and 21 outdoor spaces, parks and trails.

Spotsylvania County is located just outside of Fredericksburg, south of MCB Quantico. About 136,000 people live in the district. Known as the "Crossroads of the Civil War," Spotsylvania County has many historical attractions, battlefields, parks and tours. Spotsylvania's 13,000-acre Lake Anna is ideal for sailing, water skiing, swimming, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. Spotsylvania also offers residents and visitors several shops, wineries, breweries, restaurants and more.

Stafford County is located south of MCB Quantico and borders the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers. It is home to nearly 153,000 people and the childhood home of George Washington. The district has many historical attractions, parks, golf courses, breweries, wineries, and shopping opportunities. 17-acre Government Island nature preserve and archeological site provides amazing hiking and biking trails. The district's visitor center can be found in the museum shop in 18th-century Belmont: the home and studio of Gari Melchers, portrait artist, muralist, and American Impressionist painter.

There are many options for your child's education near MCB Quantico. Virginia offers traditional public schools, as well as public charter schools and private schools. For young children, there are various local nurseries and childcare programs on and off base.

Children who live on base can attend DoDEA schools on base: Crossroads Elementary School or Quantico Middle/High School.

The website also has contact information for primary school liaison officers, who can provide information and guidance on area schools as well as educational resources for your child.

MCB Quantico enjoyed all four seasons. In the winter, average highs are in the 40s and average lows in the 20s and 30s. In the summer, average highs can soar into the 80s, with lows in the 60s. MCB Quantico receives about 39 inches of rain and about 12 inches of snow annually.

MCB Quantico and the surrounding area is home to many historic sites, museums, art galleries, movie theaters, excellent restaurants and breweries, and a vibrant shopping district. On the grounds, there are many recreational opportunities, including bowling, fishing, golf, hiking, hunting, paintball, swimming and more.
